The 7 companies selected as Star Companies this year include CL in the ABB (Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, Blockchain) sector — a field Daegu City is actively nurturing as a future industry — along with Suntech Engineering,
KORYO CABLE, Bando, Mirae Advanced Materials, CGF, and Yeongpung Agricultural Corporation.
Based on 2021 figures, the newly selected Star Companies recorded an average revenue of ₩31.9 billion and an average workforce of 60 employees, with a 3-year CAGR of 45.9% and an employment growth rate of 35.9%. The city plans to continue providing policy support to help these companies grow into mid-sized enterprises.
The 13 newly selected Pre-Star Companies, including Mocon, recorded an average revenue of ₩4.4 billion and an average workforce of 21 employees based on 2021 figures, with a 3-year CAGR of 62.9% and an employment growth rate of 52.5%.
Daegu City and Daegu Technopark will provide Star Companies and Pre-Star Companies with growth strategy consulting, customized support packages, R&D project identification and planning, and technical problem-solving assistance.
Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo stated, "I hope the newly selected Star Companies will become core enterprises leading the regional economy on the basis of their growth potential and outstanding technological capabilities. We will spare no effort in actively supporting them to grow into world-class companies that will carry Daegu's future for the next 50 years."
